Individuation

  • Individuation is the process where we become differentiated one from the other–it is the gradual unification of the self by integrating elements of the conscious and unconscious mind. This normally happens when we grow away from our parents and then for some it never really happens. As for myself, I don’t think it really happened until I got a divorce–then again maybe I still haven’t. I surely have had enough conflict internally to make it happen.
  • Individuation – Differentiating myself from everyone and everything. This seems to have the consequence of sending me more into my story and illusion and pain body than serving my higher good.
  • The unfolding of our singular uniqueness in the universe is the journey of individuation. It is the molding of the never-before-seen version of ‘self’ from the universe. Individuation begins from first consciousness and ideally continues throughout life. Paradoxically those who are truly successful at differentiating ‘self’ acknowledge, but have no great desire to identify with their separateness or uniqueness. Their life is expressed through a greater ‘Self’ recognizable in everything and everyone.
  • The illusion that I am over here and you are over there, that in being me I am distinct from you. This is an illusion but it allows for our remembrance an ONE.
  • My understanding of individuation is similar to the theory of actualization. It is living life from wholeness in the integration of one’s individual, unique contribution to the world and the aspects carried by the collective. It is living life consciously realizing and embracing shadow AND light with enthusiasm, reverence and honor.
  • Simply the process of growing up within the spiritual context.
  • One hell of a tough process of eeking away day by day from those that birthed you and raised you.
